has Britney gone bonkers?

Troubled former-teen idol Britney Spears has never been very far from the gossip headlines since she exploded onto the charts when she was 16, however, it has only been in the past five years that people have become to question Britney's behaviour and now, its her mental state we are worried about.
First, there was her relationship with fellow former Mickey Mouse Club performer Justin Timberlake, in which she was caught out bragging about all the great sex she was having even though she had previously publically denied that she was not a virgin. Once that pairing was done, it was quickly followed by a shotgun marriage to a high school pal in Las Vegas and then another quick romance and marriage to dancer Kevin Federline later in the same year.
Britney was just 23 when she popped out her first baby, Sean Preston, one year later and, after a number of baby scandals that came with it, including an incident where Sean was injured after allegedly following out of his chair and Britney nursing him while driving, her parenting skills began to be questioned. Then, only a month after the birth of second son Jayden, Britney divorced from Kevin and an ugly court battle followed.
Currently, Kevin and Britney are fighting out over who will receive full custody of the two boys and, after Kevin's heavily publicised late nights and trips to the strippers, it seemed that Britney would win in a landslide victory.
Despite this fact, Britney has not been winning any brownie points for her behaviour since the divorce, with several crazy nights out partying with notorious party girl Paris Hilton and incidents (and paparazzi pictures!) of no underwear. It seems now with no album in sight and dropping sales that Britney is either fighting hard to stay on the minds and in the hearts of her fans (in bizarre ways) or she has indeed lost it.
In the past three weeks, Britney has checked in and out of a rehab clinic in Los Angeles twice, shaved her head and then had to be dragged back to the clinic by her worried mother, Lynn Spears.
And so the question remains: just why is Britney acting this way? Sure, the girl is certainly no longer the innocent sixteen year old sweetheart from 1998 who sung 'From the bottom of my broken heart', but this girl she is acting as now is simply out of control! Can we blame her new friends, Paris and Nikki Hilton? Is the divorce taking more of a toll on her than we thought? Or is she simply just another victim of a child being rushed into stardom far too quickly for her own good?
